I am a huge fan of CocoWawa Crafts pattern and have gotten every pattern that has so far been released. The most recent release was the Cinnamon Trousers, the cutest pair of pants with ruffle details.
My First Pair of Pants
I’ve been sewing for over 5 years now, but surprisingly I’ve never attempted a pair of pants. I have made a few shorts in the past, but haven’t been relatively impressed by them.
Mostly I just felt that I wasn’t skilled enough to make pants. However, after making the jacket for my Day and Night Dress Challenge my husband told me I have no excuse. If I can make that complex suit jacket I can make anything.
As it so happens I had recently been gifted the Cinnamon Trousers, by Anna the mastermind behind CocoWawa Crafts. I’d been putting off making these, but after the encouragement from my husband, I decided to jump right in.
Cinnamon Trousers
The Cinnamon Trousers have some great details that make these great beginner pants pattern. First off they have an elasticated back waistband, which I think really helps with the fit.
There is a side zip which is probably the only reason I would say this is for confident beginners. If you’ve sewn in a zipper before then you shouldn’t have any problems with this pattern.

The pattern also offers both a close-fit or a loose-fit. I went for the loose-fit, because that’s the style I prefer and because I figured it would be easier to fit as well.
The pants sit at the natural waist, which is lower than I usually wear but since I have a lot of long tops it’s not a concern.
Overall this pattern went together super fast and the instructions were excellent. It took me about a day and a half to complete.
I also took advantage of watching the sew-along video that Anna put together for this pattern. It helped when making the front pants pocket. I’ve never made pockets like this before, but it was actually far simpler than I had imagined.
CocoWawa Crafts
I can’t express enough how much I love the whimsical style of CocoWawa Crafts patterns. They are so cute and adorable.
So, far I’ve made every CocoWawa Crafts pattern that’s been released so it’s no surprise that I would also be in love with the Cinnamon Trousers.
By far my favorite feature of this pattern are the adorable ruffles. The ruffles are both on the front pockets and the bottom hem.
I can’t recommend this pattern enough. Speaking of recommendations, in the comments below I’d love to hear if you have any suggestions for other pants patterns I should give a try?
