It’s time once again to take a look at what’s “On the Sewing Table” for this summer.
Since it already near the end of May I thought I figured I’d share my sewing plans for summer. As it turns out I’ll be participating in a few fun sew-alongs this summer, plus I have a ton of other projects on my to make list.
Summer 2017 Sewing Plans
Colors of Flag Challenge
In my last video, I mentioned that I am co-hosting the Colors of Flags Challenge which we are encouraging participants to show their patriotism by sewing up a dress or outfit using either the #4thofJulyProudDressProject or #FlagsOfTheWorldDressProject.
I already have the fabric and a plan for my #4thofJulyProudDressProject, so excited to get started with this project.
Sew Together for Summer
Another sew-along I’m super excited about is the #SewTogetherForSummer sew-along hosted by Sara Smith. The goal of this sew along is to make a summer shirt dress.
I absolutely love shirtdress and for this project have to decide to use one of my vintage patterns making it one of my #VintagePledge projects too.
A Summer Moneta
If you read about my Moneta dress, you’ll know that I am in love with this dress and have worn it like every other day since I’ve made it.
I plan to make a summer version of the dress in a lightweight fabric with short sleeves or maybe sleeveless. I’m not sure what collar option I will use, but this project is most likely next on my list.
Gable Dress
Last summer I made the Gable top from Jenifer Lauren Handmade, which I adore so much I made a second. Since then she has released the Gable dress extension pack, which features the top on a gathered skirt.
Since I’m so in love with the Moneta dress I thought the Gable dress would be another great dress to have in my wardrobe.
Agnes Top
I mentioned back in March I really wanted to make an Agnes Top, but I didn’t get around to it.
This summer I am definitely going to whip up an Agness top or two. I think it’s the perfect summer tee pattern and hope that I can get the fit just right.
I have a plan to make a few different versions but one, in particular, I want to make will be using this great cream knit with a red anchor print.
Butterick 6453
I’m probably late to the party with this one, but after seeing all the lovely Butterick 6453 dresses online I decided I needed to have one of my own. This one is near the end of my to make list but if I can swing it I’d love to make one for this summer.
A lot of other sewing Youtubers have made this dress including Bianca of Vintage on Tap who has a full bust adjustment video for this pattern. Then there’s Abi from The Crafty Pinup also made a spectacular version of this dress.
Other Planed Projects
Other than the projects I have planned for myself, I have a selfless sewing project and some home decor projects planned.
Grant’s Out of this World Quilt
My sister is due to deliver her second child at the end of June. I’ve decided to welcome my nephew Gran, a cozy crib quilt.
Grant’s room is spaced themed, so with leftover fabric, my sister gave me I decided there was just enough I can make a really cool quilt for him, that’s out of this world!
This is the first time I’ve attempted to make a full quilt from scratch but I’m hoping the construction will be straight forward.
Layla’s Summer Dress
In a recent fabric haul, I snag some fun floral prints that I think would make a great summer dress for my niece, Layla.
Curtains
Another project my list is a pair of curtains for my husband’s home office. I made a set of curtains for the bedroom out of beautiful silver metallic table clothes I bought during after Christmas clearance from Target. I have a few table cloths left over and my hubby wants the same curtains made for his office.
Stay tuned because I plan on making a quick tutorial on how to make these curtains soon.
What’s on your Sewing Table?
Okay I know it’s a long list but I have all summer, or at least till mid-August to get them done. I’ll keep you posted on my progress.
I would love to hear in the comments below what projects you’ve got “On the Sewing Table” this month.
That’s a great list , love the daisy print for the butterrick especially.
Enjoy working through your list look forward to seeing them all
Thanks Emma, yes that pink daisy print was such a find 😀 I’m super excited about so many of these projects.
