McCalls 7129 a Reviersable Wraps Skirts

After whipping up my UFO wrap skirt I found at the antique store, I thought I would make another wrap skirt.

For a while now I’ve had McCalls 7129 in my pattern stash. This simple pattern is for gored a reversible wrap skirt.

Gingham and Floral

I thought the idea of a reversible wrap skirt would be super versatile and a great item to take on vacation. Essentially two items in one.

What could be more versatile than a reversible wrap skirt

The only question now was what fabric to use. Because I started planning this project in October, I decided to go for something that would have an autumn feel.

Looking through my fabric stash I found this black cotton with small pink and orange tone flowers on it. For the reverse side, I decided to go with a lightweight black and white gingham I had.

Bias Tape and Ties

I managed to make the 7 yards of bias tape required for this skirt out of the black floral fabric. However, I thought I’d change it up a bit and make the waistband and ties out of the gingham.

I really like the full look of this skirt.

I really like while the skirt is reversible a bit of the other side fabric is always visible either on the edge or on the waistband.

Final Thoughts

This skirt is very quick to whip up and requires no buttons or zips so supper beginner friendly.

I am definitely thinking about making more of these skirts

I also really like how full this skirt came out. It might be because my floral fabric was a medium weight fabric, which makes it stiffer. I still like how full the skirt is, even though I wasn’t quite expecting it.

Have you made this skirt? Do you have any pattern suggestions for a wrap skirt? Love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
