In the Folds Slouchy Cardigan is a Cozy Cardi

In my Autumns Plans, I mentioned that I was joining Cozy Cardi challenge and while I just barely made the deadline, Finishing on October 31st I’m only now getting around to blogging about it.

In the Folds Slouchy Cardigan

When I first decided to join this challenge I wasn’t exactly sure what pattern I would be using.

I had a few fitted cardigan patterns in my stash but for this, I really wanted a kind of oversized cozy cardigan that I could through on when I was cold and needed extra warmth.

Who doesn’t love a good cozy cardigan?

It was happenstance that I ended up learning about In the Folds patterns this Australian indie pattern company features many modern casual styles. Not exactly my usual vintage-inspired look.
However, the slouchy cardigan did catch my eye. It was an oversized cardigan that had a cozy look to it and best of all it was a free pattern.

Construction

There really isn’t much to say about this pattern. If I recall right I cut and sewed a straight size E. Normally I’d have to grade between two sizes but since the Slouchy Cardigan has quite a bit of ease I decided not to.

The extra ease is great too since I really wanted a cardigan that I could wear on top of my sweaters if needed.

Supper happy with how my Slouchy Cardigan turned out.

One minor change I made was I did shorten the cardigan along the shorten and lengthen lines about 4 inches. I had read a review that the pattern was designed for a model of 5′ 7″.

Since I’m only 5’3 I decided that I needed to take off some length. While the new length is still long I’m really happy with where it lands.

Really like the neck band and cuff detail

The only thing I wish I had done differently was to use a softer fabric. The gray jersey knit I used is rather stiff and not very soft. I think I’ll drown it a couple of times in fabric softener to help with that.

Office Sweater

I usually keep a cardigan in my office for those cold winter days, but my 10-year-old store bought one is starting to show it’s age and I really need something else.

The Slouchy Cardigan is exactly what I wanted in the way of a handy office cardigan. Plus the gray color is very professional looking and goes with just about anything.

The Slouchy Cardigan is exactly what I’ve been needing.

While I do like my new office cardigan, I really need to make a second one, so that I can have a Slouchy Cardigan for the house too.
