Akram's Ideas

Cupcake Bag

After getting my sewing machine and having a quick one day dress making lesson from my Mother-in-Law, I thought it might be a good idea to take a few classes on sewing at Joanns. The first course, a beginning course in sewing was a little to beginning, given the fact that I already had made a dress. Not to mention the instructor had never heard of aΒ Bernina sewing machine, or never saw my cool Fiskars scissors which can be used right or left-handed. Though the class offered little new information it did provide me with some practice stitching time.

The second class I choose was to make this cool purse, using Simplicity patter 1905 and using option C.

Prior to the class we were to choose our fabric and I had the hardest time until my hubby came to my rescue and said you like cupcakes, why not get this cupcake fabric and complement it with this pink swirly fabric. It was a perfect combination.Β  I’d never done a purse before, and only just did a dress a few weeks before so I was excited. The class basically walked through the steps of the pattern and though I could have been done in a single day, the course was broken into two, two and half hour sessions.

In the end I’m really happy with how the bag turned out
