I can’t say how much I love this coat it’s fantastic! It’s not only a great fashion statement it’s so cozy soft thanks to the fabulous fleece from “Your Fleece”.
Fleece Winner
As winner of the “Your Fleece” fashion contest I got a special fleece bundle named after me. The “Akram’s Ideas” bundle comes with 5 yards of Real Red Fleece, from “Your Fleece”. This is the same fleece I used to make my swing coat.
The 5 yards that comes with this bundle, should be more than enough to make either a short or long swing coat.
For my coat I used vintage Simplicity pattern 4191, which you can find on Esty here or similar patterns such as this one by McCalls.
Another good pattern would be Simplicity 1319 a re-release of vintage jacket patterns.I would also recommend Vogue re-release patterns 1083 or 8575. Other good choices for this fabric would be Butterick patterns by Gertie, number 5824 and 6105.
Swing Coat Sew Along
In honor of my custom bundle and winning coat I plan to host a swing coat sew along. You can use any pattern, however I think for the sew along I will be using Vogue 1083. I will be posting more on this soon.
