Quick update on what’s new in my world, and how I injured myself with a hula hoop.

Hula Hoops are Dangerous

Over the Memorial Holiday weekend I learned that hula hoops are dangerous. Okay, not hula hoops themselves, but the movements in which you move to hula hoop can be dangerous.

How so? Well, let’s say that I was showing my 2-year-old niece how to hula hoop. She’s standing there in her little fit for her hula hoop and I have an imaginary hula hoop demonstrating the motion to make in order to hula hoop.

Sounds like all good fun, until suddenly a sharp pain hits my hip. Ounch! At first I thought I just twisted something, and thought some sleep would cure it.

The next day however, I was in a lot of pain. Any weight on my right hip was beyond discomfort.

I managed to get a Chiropractic appointment right before everyone left for the holiday weekend. The adjustment made walking bearable, but it still ached.

Needless to say I’m still not 100% this week. Gosh, darn why am I so fragile and bruise like a peach?

Anyways, because it hurts to stand to long I haven’t done much cooking or sewing this past week or so, but lucky for you guys I have a lot of catch up blog posts for all my May makes.

In fact I made 10 (yes 10, can you believe it) items last month and plan to share them with you in the coming posts. I’m so excited since most of them are part of my #VintagePledge plus some fun sew-alongs I joined.

I also have a few new Akram’s Ideas YouTube episodes for you guys, including an all new Learn to Sew episode.

So with that said I hope you will enjoy the coming posts and beware of hula hoops.

  • {{{Gentle hugs}}} My body is very, very fragile/sensitive/prone to injury and illness, too, so I wholeheartedly understand what that’s like and truly hope that you’ll soon be on the mend from this hula hoop injury.

    Happy weekend wishes,
    ♥ Jessica

    • Thank you so much Miss Jessica. It looks like my doctor is sending me to physical therapy so hopefully in a few weeks I’ll be back to my old self. Thanks again for the warm wishes.
