As you may have read or saw on Instagram I love my Jennifer Lauren Handmade Gable top I made back in August. I’ve worn the heck out of it and couldn’t wait to make myself another one.
Autumn Leaf Turquoise Print
For my next Gable top I choose to use a great autumn-themed print I had in my stash. I’ve had this autumn leaf turquoise print in my stash for a while.
It’s a soft fabric but it has a bit of a stretch in one way. I only had a little over a yard and thought that it would be just enough for this top.
Putting it Together
This top is so easy to make. I followed the same method I used for the last top.
I don’t know if I mentioned it before but as with most patterns I had to adjust the sleeve pattern to fit around my country girl arms. However, when I did that, I altered the pattern with ⅝ inch seam, not remembering that the actual pattern had a ⅜ inch seam.
Thus, because of my altered sleeve pattern I had to sew the sleeve with a ⅝ inch seam and then cut it back to ⅜ inch. The rest of the top is sewn at ⅜ inch seam.
Final Thoughts
I LOVE IT! This top is amazing. I really like how this top works with my purple/maroon Delphine skirt , as well as with a pair of jeans.
This fabric is a bit more drapey fabric which gives the neckline a droop to it. It’s not bad and I kind of like it. Still, I also love how soft this top is and the colors are perfect for autumn.
Like I said before, I really love this top and will most likely make many more of these tops.
It’s lovely the colours really suit you. I have only made one short sleeve in a sweater knit. It’s cold now I need to do another in longer sleeves. Thanks for the prompt K xXx
Thank you, Karen. Yes, this pattern is perfect for both cooler or warmer weather. Your sweater knit one sounds nice. Can’t wait to hear what your long sleeve version will be like. Good luck!
