I’ve been kind of under the weather the past few days, and while Halloween time is my favorite time of the year, I really hadn’t put much thought into it this year.
I’ve been so busy at work and home that I didn’t even decorate, except for putting some leaves in pumpkin bags on the front porch.
Before I knew it October was over and here we are on Halloween day. I always dress up for Halloween so I didn’t want to disappoint my students. So, last night I looked through my closet to come up with some quick idea for a costume.
I ended up going as Paddington Bear.
I had a blue jacket, which I bought some years ago at Target, which was a prefect match for Paddington’s coat. I also happen to have a red bucket hat that was also similar to Paddington’s own hat.
I decided to coordinate the jacket with some tan slacks; unfortunately I didn’t have yellow galoshes, so my regular shoes had to do.
To add more Paddington to the costume I cut out a tag from an old cardboard box lying around. I looked up what the original Paddington Tag said and wrote the same on mine. Then I used some string and a safety pin to pin it to my jacket.
I was just going to leave it at that, but then I did a quick Pinterst search and found the cutest bear makeup example. I decided to recreate this look using what I had on hand.
Basically I just put foundation on, then I used natural brown tones for my checks and eye shadow, even used brown eyeliner. To create the nose and dots I simply used an eye liner pencil I had. I also used the same eyeliner for the upper lip. The lower lip I used a soft pink lip-gloss.
Despite being one of the simplest costumes I’ve ever pulled off it got a lot of attention on social media! I even got a shout from the Paddington Movie.
