McCall’s Big Vintage Sew-Along #bvsewalong

I love sew-alongs, it’s so much fun to see all the lovely makes that all the participants make during them. I also love the way sew-alongs challenge me to make stuff. It gives me sort of a goal to work towards.

As you might have heard I’m participating once again in the #VintagePledge sew-along this year. I love vintage clothes and love sewing from vintage patterns so it’s the perfect match for me. This is also why I got super excited when I heard about McCall’s Big Vintage Sew-Along.

McCall’s Pattern UK is hosting the Big Vintage Sew-along or #bvsewalong for short. This year long event invites sewers to sew vintage reproduction patterns from the McCalls , Butterick or Vogue pattern line.

There are 20 patterns in all that are available for your to choose from that range from the 1930s to the 1960s. Big Vintage Sew-along page lists all 20 patterns.

The Eve Appeal Charity

When you buy one of the 20 patterns mentioned above proceeds will go towards  The Eve Appeal charity.

The Eve Appeal charity funds the department of Women’s Cancer based at University College London (UCL). The Department’s vital and much-needed research focuses on gynecological cancers.

While the #bvsewalong is aimed at UK participants the research funded by the Eve Appeal will benefit not only women in the UK , but worldwide.

Join the Fun

The Big Vintage Sew-along has a variety of events, workshops and even a blogger hop featuring some of my favorite UK sewers.

While this event might be aimed at those folks across the pond, I thought why not join the fun. Even McCalls welcomes sewers from all over to join the event.

All you have to do is share your make of one of the 20 vintage reproduction patterns and share it using #bvsewalong hastag on Instagram and Twitter . Also be sure to tag @McCallpatternUK on Twitter or @McCallpatternUK on Instagram.

Since this is a year long event you there’s time to make more than just one pattern. Plus, these vintage reproduction patterns also work as part of my #VintagePledge challenge. So, for me it’s like a no brainer to participate. The only question now is what pattern to start with?
