Make it through December

So, here we are at the last month of the year. It feels like this year has been a great big roll coaster of events for me and my little world.

A stressful spring semester turned into an even more stressful summer. Both me and my hubby were offered jobs in Tulsa and had to move within weeks. This meant moving from a big two story Victorian house to a small one-bedroom apartment.

While the downgrade in living space has actually been one of the easier changes, not all has gone according to plan. Work has really been hard on me this year and I’ve just been feeling creatively unmotivated.

This has caused me a lot of stress, because I have an internal need to be creative. I made mention of this slightly in my November post. Now as we come to the end of year I keep reminding myself of the Merle Haggard song, “If We Make Through December”.

If we make it through December
Everything’s gonna be all right I know
It’s the coldest time of winter
And I shiver when I see the falling snow

While we haven’t seen any snow yet there has been lots of rain. As it so happens, all it did this summer was rain. I’m tried of the rain and not being happy, gosh darnit!

So, with that said my plan is to Make it through December, if I can do that , as the song says, everything will be alright. Of course this means for things to change it will have to start with me. I need to make a change and that’s the plan.

I look forward to 2016 and all the changes I have planned. I’m hoping that you guys (my readers) will also be excited for all I plan to share with you, but I will discuss that later.

In the end I want to wish everyone out there a good December and Happy Holidays. And if you find yourself struggling to get through this month, just remember that If you make it through December, everything’s gonna be alright.

  • It has definitely been a very, very eventful, jam packed year for you guys. I’m sorry that crafting/creating has had to take a backseat for you sometimes. That’s been the story of my life for over four years now and it has never stopped feeling strange and like something incredibly important was missing for it (because it was/is). Like yourself, I hope to have more time to create in 2016, but my the extra realistic/pragmatic part of my brain isn’t holding its breath. We’ll see! Fingers crossed it happens for both of us.

Happiest holiday season wishes to you and your family, dear Akram!
