Thrilling Return of the Vintage Pledge for 2017

Marie from A Stitching Oddysee recently announced the return of the vintage pledge for 2017.

#VintagePledge

The 4th annual #VintagePledge will be organized much as years past. Basically each participant in this year-long sewalong vows to make a set number of vintage patterns for the year.

#VintagePledge

You can set the number or stipulations for this sewalong yourself, the only rule is that you must use a vintage or reproduction patterns. This includes patterns from the 1990’s as vintage is described as 20 years or older.

My #Vintage Pledge Plans

I have a ton (like near hoarder level ) of vintage patterns. So, it only makes sense for me to be a part of the #vintagepledge.

Oddly enough only one of my #makenine patterns this year is a vintage pattern. How did that even happen?

Okay, so since I already planned out my  #makenine I’ll focus on at least 4 #vintagepledge patterns this year.

Simplicity 4260

Love the collar detail on this pattern

Sarah Smith of Sew Sarah Smith recently announced the #sewtogetherforsummer sewalong where all participants make a shirtdress for summer.

I just adore shirtdresses and last summer while participating in the McCall’s shirtdress sewalong I ended up making not one but 3 shirtdresses.

This year I’ve decided to go with a vintage shirtdress pattern, Simplicity 4260. I really love version 1 with the contrasting collar, but I may just end up making one of each version.

Simplicity 3688

For my make nine, I wanted to have a go at making a pair of pants. However, when it comes to pants I prefer a high waisted wide-legged vintage style pair.

I’ve had Simplicity 3688 in my stash for some time and I’ve been meaning to make it, but the thought of making pants scares me a little.

Definitely making these pants

Not sure if I will make each of the pieces in this pattern, but the pants are definitely on my vintage pledge.

Vogue 1083

I’ve been wanting to make a full on swing coat ever since I made my vintage Simplicity 4191 in 2015.

That same winter I cut out Vogue 1083, however, we soon found ourselves in the middle of a move and well let’s just say the pieces were tossed in a box never to see the light of day.

This year I plan to change that! I plan to finally complete my Vogue 1083 full on swing coat.

Vintage Sleepwear

The last vintage pattern I want to make is vintage nightgown set.

Allie J recently shared her latest make of a lovely seersucker nightgown and quilted bed jacket

As it turns out I have several vintage sleepwear patterns in my collection and I thought hey I should have a go at a similar make. I actually even have some white and tan seersucker in my fabric stash that would be perfect for this.

Not sure what pattern I will use for this project but this is definitely on my vintage pledge list.

Join the Fun

If you haven’t tried your hand at sewing a vintage pattern I would totally recommend it. It might sound a bit intimidating but it really isn’t all that hard.

I find that vintage patterns often have interesting details and aren’t actually any harder than modern patterns.

Be sure to head over to  A Stitching Odyssey and sign up for the #vintagepldege
