Back in February, the Triple Stitchers made up of Rachel, Abigal, and Elle all teamed up to host the #MonetaParty. This fun sew along project had participants sew up the Moneta dress by Colette patterns and share their makes on Instagram.
Moneta Party
I have been familiar with Colette Patterns for a while as I have had the Colette Sewing Handbook for some time, despite never making anything from it. Anyways, I wasn’t sure at first if I wanted to participate in the #MonetaParty after all, January and February haven’t exactly been the best of months for me.
Despite being in a total sewing rut, I kept seeing more and more Moneta dresses show up on my Instagram feed. Finally, I was pursued and in a moment of rash judgment, I purchased the Moneta PDF pattern on my lunch break one afternoon.
The Moneta Dress
The Moneta dress is a comfy knit dress perfect for both a night on the town or out running errands. As Colette patterns say it “works in every season and for any occasion”.
The Moneta dress features a curved neckline, fitted bodice, and a shirred skirt, with yes, POCKETS. There are 3 different variations sleeveless with a lined bodice, or an unlined short sleeve or 3/4-length sleeve.
If that wasn’t enough Colette Patterns also offers a free collar extension pattern pack for the Moneta dress. I must admit it really was the tie collar option that really sold me on this dress.
Astonishingly Quick Make
I had made plans to work on my Moneta dress the week of the party deadline, but things got in the way.
On Saturday while others were joyfully posting their makes I was in bed suffering from an allergy attack. The extreme change of weather we often experience in Oklahoma caused my allergies to go haywire. I spent the day sneezing, watery eyes and a headache. Needless to say, I did nothing Saturday.
Sunday rolled around and I thought for sure I missed my chance to be a part of the party. But I still wanted to make the Moneta dress. Feeling 100% better I decided to work on it.
This dress was so easy to make I whipped it out in about 3 hours.

Fave Feature
This dress is super comfy and the fact that it has pockets is a major plus.
I adore how the tie collar helped to give this simple knit dress a vintage look. The collar extension pack had several variations and I may just have to make this dress a few more times to try them all out.
My favorite feature might be the gathered skirt. I know many sewers don’t like the look of gathered knit fabric. The pattern instructions used a shirring technique for creating the gathers, which I think I might use from now on. Also, I cut the 3X for the skirt and while I probably could have gotten away with the 2X or possibly the XL I like how full the skirt turned out thanks to the extra fabric in the gather.
After all, a dress with a twirly skirt is the best kind of dress 😉
Did you take part in the #MonetaParty? How did your dress turn out?
