Jennifer Lauren Mayberry in a Spring Floral

Oklahoma weather is very unpredictable and while this week our nightly lows are still dipping to just above freezing, the daytime highs are reaching up to 50 degrees.

This super exciting news because it finally means I can wear my latest Jennifer Lauren Handmade Mayberry dress.

Floral Mayberry

After ending 2017 with my first Mayberry dress in a lovely blue soft linen-like fabric, I knew I wanted to make another.

Searching through my stash I found a lovely floral seersucker fabric that would be just perfect.

These vintage buttons and fabric went perfectly together

The key feature of this dress has to be the asymmetrical buttons on the bodice. This being said I really wanted to use a statement set of buttons. I found what I think are the perfect buttons.

These vintage buttons look a little like wooden buttons but are plastic with a yellow golden tone, making for a perfect match to golden flowers on the navy fabric.

First Dress of 2018

This was actually the first dress I made for 2018 but I discovered that I didn’t have the right color ribbon for the drawstring. Plus since the weather had been freezing, wearing a seersucker dress didn’t make sense anyway.

This dress is just perfect for spring weather

Only recently did I finally get around to ordering my needed ribbon and let’s just say I’m so glad I did. Because once I put it on completed I am in love with this dress.

I think I love it more than the first one. It’s soft, lightweight, fits well and just perfect in every way.

The asymmetrical button detail really makes this dress unique.

At first, I was hoping to make this dress with the long sleeves as I did the first version, but didn’t have enough fabric. So, I basically cut the short sleeve pattern all the way to the bottom of my fabric piece. This means I have a more ¾ length sleeve than short sleeve.

I love having just enough fabric for matching accessories.

Speaking of cutting fabric, I cut every last inch of this fabric to get this dress made. I was thrilled to have enough for the pockets and even to little slivers I sewed together to make a matching hair scarf.

More Jennifer Lauren Dresses

I do adore this dress and hope to make more in my future but that will have to wait I’m afraid.

There’s no doubt I’ll be making more Mayberry dresses in the future

I actually have a few other Jennifer Lauren patterns on my list to make this spring, starting of course with my Laneway Dress, which I hope to get started in the next few weeks, so stay tuned.
