Coca-Cola , Route 66 and a Nautical Top

I don’t normally do outfit posts, unless I’m showing off a new outfit or something.

However, when out and about antiquing a little while back I came across a picture worthy setting that I couldn’t pass up on.

Coca-Cola on Route 66

If you’ve ever done some searching on Route 66 in Oklahoma, you may have spotted a photo of a painted Coca-Cola ad on the side of a brick building.

I came across this sign on a day trip to Sapulpa, Oklahoma. It’s in the alley on the side of a building which just happens to be Dewey Street Market Antique Mall.

Nautical Top and Capris

I couldn’t help but take a moment to take some shots of the sign and pose for the camera.

I had to stop and pose

My outfit consisted of a lovely sailor inspired nautical top which I bought sometime last year at my favorite online retailer, Modcloth.

I believe I got the top at one of Modcloth’s awesome clearance sales, which by the way they are having one right now until Friday.

I wore my jersey nautical top with a pair of denim capris

This particular top is no longer available, but they have a great selection of other nautical themed outfits.

Along with this top I wore a comfy pair of denim stretch capris. I wore my favorite striped flats the brand is deluxe comfort shoes and I got them at Payless Shoes last summer. They are a great pair of shoes for running around town in the summer.

I’m in two places at once. Photoshop is fun 😉

Finally I just want to make mention of my lovely new bracelets. I always love all the vintage gals wearing their bakelite bracelets.

Akram's Ideas: New Bracelets
I love my new bracelet set.

Due to my previous issues with carpal tunnel wearing bracelets was kind of a pain. However, since then I’ve had electrical stimulation treatment and my carpal tunnel doesn’t bother me like it used to.

So, when I saw these bracelets for a dollar at local antique shop, I couldn’t resist. I know they are not bakelite, but I just wanted to try out wearing bracelets again.  The good news is I wore them all day and they didn’t bother me, plus looked great too.

  • That is such a vibrant, awesome advertising mural. There’s no way I could have passed by without stopping to take some snaps with its vintage-y iconic-ness either. Fab photos – and outfit. I just adore the darling rickrack trim on your shirt.

    • Thank you Miss Jessica. Yes the sign is so vibrant, apparently Sapulpa, OK has a community project were volunteers refresh the paint on the vintage signs downtown to keep them looking good. I wish more places would do that. It’s always a shame to see such great vintage artwork get forgotten and / or painted over.
